How do I log in to cPanel?

Three ways to reach your cPanel login screen, how to sign in, and what to check when the page will not load or your password is refused.

cPanel is where you manage almost everything on your hosting account: email accounts, files, databases, backups and SSL. This guide shows you the ways to reach the login screen, how to sign in, and how to find a tool once you are there. You will need the cPanel username and password that were issued when your account was created.

Open the cPanel login screen

There are three routes, and any of them gets you to the same place.

  1. Use the link in your account area or in the welcome email sent when your hosting was set up. This is the most reliable option because it works even before your domain points at our servers.
  2. Type your domain followed by /cpanel in your browser, for example yourdomain.com/cpanel.
  3. Type your domain with the cPanel port on the end: https://yourdomain.com:2083.

If your domain is still pointing somewhere else, options 2 and 3 will not reach your account. In that case use the server hostname shown in your welcome email in place of your domain name. The hostname differs from account to account, so copy it exactly as it appears.

Sign in to your account

  1. Enter your cPanel username in the first field. It is usually a short version of your domain name, not your email address.
  2. Enter your cPanel password.
  3. Select "Log in".

If you have two-factor authentication turned on, you will then be asked for the six digit code from your authenticator app. The knowledgebase has a separate guide covering that setup.

Do not share this login with anyone who does not need full access to the account. If a developer only needs to upload files, create an FTP account for them instead, and if someone only needs a mailbox, create an email account.

Find your way around

The cPanel home page groups tools into sections such as Files, Databases, Domains, Email, Metrics and Security. Two habits make it much faster:

  1. Use the search box at the top of the page. Typing "backup" or "email" filters the tool list as you type, which is quicker than scrolling.
  2. Select the star icon beside a tool you use often. Pinned tools move to the top of the home page so they are there next time.

To finish, select your username in the top right corner and choose the logout option, especially on a shared or public computer.

If it didn't work

The page will not load at all. Your domain is probably not pointing at our servers yet, or DNS changes have not finished propagating. Use the link in your account area or the server hostname instead.

Your password is refused. Passwords are case sensitive, and a saved password in your browser may be an old one. Reset it from your account area, then sign in with the new password. Our guide on changing your cPanel password in the knowledgebase covers this.

The login screen loads but keeps rejecting you, or stops responding. Repeated failed attempts can trigger a temporary block on your IP address. Wait a few minutes and try again, or contact us with your current IP address so we can clear it.

If you are still locked out after trying these, open a ticket at /support and we will check the account from our side.
