A package is a saved set of limits (disk space, bandwidth, email accounts, databases and so on) that you apply to a client account instead of typing the same numbers every time. Setting up two or three packages before you sell your first account saves you a lot of repetitive work later, and it keeps your clients on consistent limits.

To follow this guide, log in to WHM with your reseller username and password. Everything below happens inside WHM, not cPanel.

## Create a package

1. In the WHM sidebar, search for Packages and open Add a Package.
2. Give the package a name. Use something you will recognize in a list, such as `starter` or `business`. WHM adds your reseller username as a prefix, so the saved package appears as `youruser_starter`.
3. Set the resource limits. The common ones are Disk Quota and Monthly Bandwidth (both in megabytes), plus caps on FTP accounts, email accounts, databases, subdomains, addon domains and parked domains. Tick the Unlimited box beside a field only if you really want no cap on it.
4. Check the email sending limits while you are here. Max Hourly Email by Domain Relayed and the failed or deferred message percentage both help keep one compromised client account from affecting your other clients.
5. Under Settings, choose the cPanel theme, the locale and the feature list. The default feature list is fine for most accounts. If you want to hide certain cPanel icons for a tier, build a list first in Feature Manager, then select it here.
6. Click Add.

Your resource limits cannot exceed the limits on your own reseller account. If you try to give a package more disk space than you have, WHM will let you save the package but account creation will fail later.

## Assign a package to an account

1. Open Account Functions, then Create a New Account.
2. Fill in the domain, username, password and contact email for the client.
3. In the Package section, choose your package from the drop-down list. The limits fill in automatically.
4. Review the settings section, then click Create.

To move an existing account onto a different package, use Account Functions, then Upgrade/Downgrade an Account.

## Edit a package later

1. Open Packages, then Edit a Package.
2. Select the package and click Edit.
3. Change the values you need and save.

Whether existing accounts pick up the new limits varies by WHM setup. Some versions prompt you to apply the change to accounts already on the package, and some do not. If you are not prompted, open Modify an Account and adjust that account directly.

## If it didn't work

The package does not appear in the list when creating an account: check that you are looking for it under your username prefix, and that you clicked Add rather than navigating away from the form.

Account creation fails with a quota or resource error: the package is asking for more disk space, bandwidth or accounts than your reseller account allows. Lower the package values, or ask us about your reseller limits.

You cannot see the Packages area at all: your reseller account needs the matching privileges. Contact us and we will confirm what is enabled.
